Join us in bringing delight to these dedicated military families
Volunteers needed for a program to provide free singing Valentines to those who defend us. This program uses reputable military-oriented charities to send out an offer to active duty military personnel and disabled veterans to send a Singing Valentine to their spouse, parent or sweetheart. In short, we're repaying part of the debt we owe these defenders by helping them, in turn, give the gift of love to the loyal person who has supported them.
The offer is sent by one of the charitable organizations serving military families who have agreed to offer the Singing Valentine to the individuals they support. The offer makes clear that the Valentine is free, offered out of respect for their service and sacrifice.
When the service member calls in we get some contact information, then call around to find a quartet in the area. We've run this program successfully for four years and the results are as heart-warming as you might imagine. Barbershoppers across the nation are more than happy to make this small recognition to these heroes, and we all know how every sweetheart melts and beams as they hear this love message.
Now it's time to ramp up the program. We are organizing volunteers to help broadcast and deliver this gift to as many soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen as we can handle. In order of priority, I need help with the following:
Calling around to barbershop chapters to find quartets to deliver Singing Valentines
Setting up the web systems to communicate among volunteers and sponsors
Forward-looking outreach to engage sponsor partners and plan for next year's expansion
Barbershop Chapter and Quartets who are interested in delivering military singing Valentines in their area
Barbershop quartets to send Remote Singing Valentines via web or phone call, for when we can't get a live quartet.
If you're interested in helping out, let me know and I can give you complete details:
